First Ever Admiral Owners Association Meeting!
The next morning we left for Cat Cay, making
great time with near perfect winds. We found our
way into a small resort area called Hawks Nest.
We anchored in the river area nearby.
John's diving of the anchor was cut short when
he discovered a 6 foot barracuda had
established his territory under our boat and
wasn't interested in moving. So we made our way
into the resort. There we treated ourselves to
dinner, which they served us at the bar and I saw
my first ACC basketball game of the season.
Duke easily defeated Princeton while we enjoyed
our 4 course meal!
It was a great night until we got back to the boat
and realized we had no plan for where to go
next. We had not been able to contact David
Bird, who owns Admiral Yachts, but we knew he
was somewhere in the Bahamas. We gave up
trying to figure it out that night and went to bed
with no plan.
The next morning I turned on the radio to catch
the Bahamas weather and was startled to hear
the boat Didi Mau calling Cool Bananas which is
David’s boat. Didi Mau is another Admiral
Catamaran that crossed just before we did. John
got on the radio, made contact with Bill and Chris
on Didi Mau, finding out that they were about 6
hours away and David Bird was heading there
also. We lifted anchor and headed for
Georgetown in the Exumas. We had a plan!
When we pulled into Monument Beach in
Georgetown, we were greeted by two other
Admiral yachts and their various crew. We
managed to anchor without any drama and were
thrilled to be there. We caught up with David Bird
and his family and went over all the plans for the
Boat Show.
Bill and Chris on Didi Mau had sailed across in
an Admiral with our same delivery captains. We
had heard so much about them that we felt like
we knew them already. What a great time we had
visiting and comparing notes on our boats!
I guess this was the first ever Admiral Owners
Association meeting!
Georgetown houses a large cruising community,
similar to what we had encountered in Trinidad.
The morning Cruisers Net provides weather and
local activities. Volleyball Beach is quite the
gathering place along side the Chat n Chill bar
and restaurant. John and David tried their skills
at the volleyball nets on several occasions, but
don’t look for them on the circuit anytime soon.
The beach also has swings and a play area for
children, which Bianca enjoyed to its fullest. We
met several other cruising couples, including two
sets of friends who were visiting Bill and Chris.

Fisherman John (above) just couldn't help himself.
With a little help from me, he managed to pull in a
pair of dorado on the way to Georgetown.
Both fish hit our lines at the same time. I held on to
the big male on one line while John pulled in the
smaller female on his.
There was plenty of fresh fish for everyone!
John decides the anchor is just fine
and heads back to the boat.
The Admiral Owners Association
held it's first ever sail-in, quite by
accident, in Georgetown.
Along with Tee Time(left) was Didi
Mau (top left) with Bill and Chris
Brown and Cool Bananas (top right)
with David Bird, Michelle and
Bianca.
Do we look cool or what?
David and Michelle were great
hosts and we now call Bill
Brown,(the guy standing) the
grill master!
John and David chill out at the Chat 'n Chill, after a tough game of volleyball.
Bianca and her mother, Michelle, enjoy a swim. The
beaches in Georgetown have the most amazing soft,
white sand. Could use some of it in those Colorado
sand traps!
Looks like the guys should take some volleyball
lessons from David's daughter, Bianca.
