The Adventure Begins

Ahoy from beautiful Cape Town! Our flight was long, but uneventful. John
managed to get through all the airports with his luggage packed with
survival suits, a sea anchor and various other boat paraphernalia. We
arrived here on June 19th.

We are having an amazing time here. The owner of the company, David
Bird, met us at the airport on Saturday and has seen to our every need.
He took us to the factory to see Tee Time that very day. She is in the
finishing stages and is beside another boat that will be launched next
week, so we can see what she will look like when finished.  We are also
able to suggest changes and add stuff.  We’ve met the electrician, the
woodworkers, and the fabric people.  In the spirit of compromise (and to
prevent whining) we agreed that I will choose the inside stuff (tile, carpet,
upholstery) and John will choose outside colors (sail, bottom paint and
outside cushions). If you know Aggie John, you can guess what the
outside colors are.

Next week we get to participate in the launching of our sister ship “Not
Just a Dream”.  It’s quite the production to get the boat from the
factory to the water.  It requires a police escort and lots of permits.

We have an ocean view flat and a cell phone. John is terrorizing the
locals with our rental car. They drive on the left side here, you know. He’s
only forgotten a couple of times.

Golf Tournament and Party

Thanks to all of you who made the golf tournament and Bon Voyage
celebration special for us. Hope everyone had as great a time as we did.

The golf tournament included twenty teams of players from their teens to
the seventies (age and handicap.) This time the flat bellies won out.
Congratulations to Mike Martinez, Joe Castle, Jerry Heard, and Tim Long
and everyone else who participated. With the format, the tournament ran
a swift 4 hours and 25 minutes. Thanks for the speedy play.

It was great fun visiting with 150 guests who attended the party.

A special thanks to staff members from Gateway Elementary and
audience participants for the dance routine.  .

The food, service, and the band were excellent.  In case you missed it,
the name of the band was “Up To No Good” and if you’d like to book
them for your next party or golf tournament, contact Kris Kovalik at 473-
0200.

We left Colorado Springs on June 2nd with all our important
possessions, including our dog, Aggie, packed into our cabover camper
and our 10 ft. trailer.

Looking a little like hillbillies, we arrived safe and sound in North Carolina
on June 4th.
We stored our things, including Aggie, with Dave Yockey who lives in my
home place in North Carolina. We visited with friends and family long
enough for John to collect some “Davy Bucks” on the golf course . . . or
was it the other way round.  I just can’t remember!

The adventure continues . . .

Gateway Staff shows their stuff.
...and Davie shows his stuff.
Up to No Good provided great music!
Aggie hasn't a clue what her humans are up to now, but she's
just glad to be along.
