2nd Leg
St. Helena to Fortaleza
|
We left St. Helena bright and early Saturday,
Oct. 2nd. Someone decided to turn off the wind
for the next 2 days, so we had to motor. We've
learned that there is nothing more frustrating
being on a sailing vessel than no wind.
After that we picked up nice breezes, so we
were able to put up the spinnaker. It's really fun
to sail with the spinnaker, or the Bag, as we call
it. Not only is it beautiful (we had it done in the
design of the South African flag), but it is more
tolerant of wind shifts.
On the second leg, we settled in to a routine on
the boat, filling our days with lots of different
activities. The weather turned so warm and
sunny that I dared to put away my long johns.
We made land at Fortaleza around 9:00 am on
Oct. 14th. We made such good time that we
had to slow Tee Time down, so we wouldn't
arrive in the dark of night.
She really likes to sail!
John and I learn to raise the spinnaker,
better known as the Bag!
We chose the South African flag for our Spinnaker colors!
Beautiful sunsets are a daily occurrence!
